N. Meyer is a French sculptor. He specialized in genre and allegorical sculpture. The sculpture "Woman with a snake on her leg" was made around 1880 and is presumably one of the variants of the sculpture "Cleopatra" by N. Meyer. Cleopatra is the last queen of Egypt from the Ptolemaic dynasty. Intelligent and educated, she was the mistress of Julius Caesar, then the wife of Mark Antony. After the defeat in the war with Rome, she committed suicide. According to legend, a poisonous snake served as the weapon of suicide. A naked young woman is depicted sitting on a stone. She leans on her right hand and, throwing her head back, looks at a small snake wrapped around the wrist of her raised left hand. The Kasli plant has been casting the sculpture since the end of the 19th century.
