O.P. Taezhnaya-Cheshuina - sculptor, member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. She specialized in the field of easel and decorative sculpture, was engaged in plastics of small forms. The sculpture "Maria" was made in 1954 in the series "Ballet". Maria is the heroine of the poem by A.S. Pushkin's "Fountain of Bakhchisarai" (1834) and the ballet of the same name (1934) by B.V. Asafiev's beauty is a Slavic woman, a concubine from the harem of the Crimean Khan Girey, who is dying at the hands of her jealous rival Zarema. The role of Maria was brilliantly played by the outstanding ballerina G.S. Ulanova. According to the author's testimony, it was she who served as a model for the sculpture "Maria". A dancer is depicted standing on the toe of her right leg, her left leg and right arm are set aside, and her left arm is raised up. The inscription on the front side of the stand: "Maria". The Kasli plant has been casting the sculpture since 1957.
